For families and carers
Your clinician sent you here.
Your therapist gave you exercises. SDR shows them on whatever screen is closest, at the times you choose. It is free, and there is no account.
If you found this yourself, you can start now and ask your physio or OT to check it.
Illustration of the display. One card at a time, at the interval you set.
Start in four steps
- Open the web app.Use any browser on a phone, tablet or laptop. You do not need to sign up.
- Choose the exercises your clinician gave you.Pick them from the card library, or type your own. Put them in the order your clinician gave you.
- Set how often the card changes.Use the time your clinician suggested. You can change it later.
- Copy the display link and open it on the screen. That can be a TV, a tablet or a laptop. The cards then change on their own.
In the Name field, a first name or initials is enough. Please do not enter a surname or a diagnosis.
Two links, two jobs
The editor link
This is the one that changes the program. Keep it private. Anyone who has it can change what the screen shows.
If you lose it, the program cannot be recovered, so save it somewhere safe.
The display link
This is the one you open on the TV or tablet. It only shows the program. It cannot change it.
You can open it on more than one screen.
Where to put the screen
Somewhere the person can see it from where they sit or lie, in the room where they will be during the day. The card text is large, so a screen across the room works.
If the TV has no browser or no internet, the optional HDMI dongle plugs into it and runs a program on its own.
Questions to ask your clinician
- Which exercises should be on the screen, and in what order?
- How many repeats of each, and how long should each card stay up?
- What should we do if an exercise hurts or feels wrong?
- Who do we call if we have a question?
Ask your clinician to set it up
Your clinician can build the program for you in a few minutes and give you the display link. Print the one-page handout and take it to your next appointment.
Support from others
These are independent organisations. SDR is not connected to them.
- Stroke Foundation, including its StrokeLine support service.
- Stroke Recovery Association NSW, with recovery clubs and groups across NSW.
- Carer Gateway, the Australian Government's support for carers.
Why this exists
SDR started with one person: my father. We printed his exercises in large type and laminated them, and they got moved at the next sheet change. What kept working was the cue at the right time.
